High School Nurse

Qualifications:

Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Indiana 180 day calendar Salary Schedule

Performance Responsibilities:

• Organize and maintain confidential student health records.
• Enforce state law regarding immunizations.
• Keep a daily log of visits to the health clinic.
• Maintain treatment plans for students with chronic disorders
• Administer prescription medications/treatments to students as ordered by physician.
• Give OTC medications as directed by parent.
• Maintain a log of medications given.
• Keep medications secure.
• Examine students for communicable diseases and contact parents as necessary.
• Perform school screenings as specified by Indiana law.
• Provide annual training on blood borne pathogens for school employees.
• Implements Board policy on exclusion and readmission of students in connection with infectious and contagious diseases.
• Assists school personnel with any health problems students might have in class.
• Maintains communication with faculty and staff.
• Administers first aid in accordance with established first aid procedures.
