Job Title:
Household Hazardous Waste Collection Technician (On-Call / Travel Required)
CMT Services, Inc. is seeking reliable and safety-conscious individuals to support Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection events across multiple counties in Maryland. This position involves one-day assignments (day trips up to 75 miles) assisting with the safe collection, handling, and sorting of hazardous materials from the public.
This is a field-based, on-call role ideal for individuals who are dependable, flexible, and comfortable working in outdoor environments.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with the collection and sorting of household hazardous waste materials
- Safely handle items such as paints, chemicals, batteries, and automotive fluids
- Direct and assist residents during drop-off events
- Follow proper labeling, segregation, and disposal procedures
- Load, unload, and transport materials within the site
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Work closely with team members to ensure efficient event operations
- Follow all safety protocols and environmental regulations at all times
- One-day assignments (event-based work)
- Travel to various job sites across Maryland counties (up to 75 miles)
- Early morning start times may be required
- Schedule may vary based on event calendar
- Must be extremely reliable and punctual
- Must have dependable personal transportation to travel to assigned job sites
- Valid driver’s license preferred
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Must be able to lift, carry, and move materials (up to 50 lbs)
- Previous experience in environmental services, waste management, or labor work
- Familiarity with hazardous materials handling (not required – training provided)
- Outdoor, fast-paced event setting
- Interaction with the public
- Exposure to various household waste materials (proper PPE provided)
- Flexible, event-based work opportunities
