Position OverviewThe Specialist, Art instructs students in art concepts, techniques, and appreciation while integrating visual arts with other academic subjects. This position develops engaging instruction, manages art materials and equipment, and promotes student creativity through displays, programs, and community presentations.
Key Responsibilities- Provide weekly art instruction to elementary students to develop artistic skills, creativity, and appreciation of art history and culture.
- Implement district-approved art curriculum aligned with educational standards.
- Develop engaging lessons that support diverse learning needs including ELL, SPED, and EE students.
- Maintain art tools, equipment, and classroom materials.
- Manage classroom supplies and ensure safe use of artistic tools and materials.
- Promote art programs through student displays, exhibits, and events.
- Monitor students to maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
- Prepare documentation such as lesson plans, purchase orders, and program records.
- Research and write grants to support and enhance the art program.
- Collaborate with teachers to integrate art concepts across subject areas.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
