* Job Description:

** The City of Idaho Falls is accepting applications for the position of Police Front-Desk Clerk.  This part-time position performs a variety of administrative and customer service duties as needed to expedite the delivery of administrative activities and services in the Idaho Falls Police Department.
This position is part-time working up to 19.5 hours per week, and as such, is not eligible for City benefits.

* Essential Functions:

** Greets public in person or phone and routes calls to the appropriate office or individual within the Police Department.  Responds to questions regarding the Idaho Falls Police Department, its functions and services.
Takes citizen complaints and writes standard reports as needed for those complaints.  Deals effectively with upset or angry citizens, providing assistance and answering questions.  Takes finger prints from general citizens and suspects, electronically and by ink.
Performs general office duties such as call taking, report writing, filing, record keeping, etc.
Performs related duties as assigned.

* Minimum Qualifications:

**** 1.

Education and Experience:

*
* A. Graduation from high school or GED;  AND  

B. One (1) year experience performing responsible clerical or administrative duties.  Prior experience in a law enforcement environment is preferred, but not required;  OR  

C. An equivalent combination of education and experience.

** 2.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

** Working knowledge of standard office practices and procedures including clerical procedures and methods related to filing and documenting; knowledge of English composition, spelling, grammar, punctuation.
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally, and in writing; ability to develop effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and the general public.
Knowledge of effective customer service skills.

** 3. Special

Qualifications:

** Ability to speak Spanish is preferred, but not required.  Final candidate will be subject to a thorough background check and polygraph examination.
** Work Environment:
** Tasks require a variety of physical activities not generally involving muscular strain. Physical demands may occur in activities related to walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, etc. Talking, hearing and seeing required in the daily performance of job duties. Mental application utilizes memory for details, emotional stability and discriminating thinking and creative problem solving.
** Pay Range:
