ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician – Grade I

We are seeking an ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician – Grade I to support concrete testing and inspection services on active construction projects in the Pocatello and Idaho Falls areas. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on field work, takes pride in accuracy, and can communicate effectively with contractors and project teams. You will play a key role in ensuring concrete materials meet project specifications and industry standards along with soils testing, rebar inspections and sampling of construction materials
Core Responsibilities- Perform concrete field testing in accordance with ASTM and ACI standards
- Conduct slump tests, air content tests, temperature measurements, and prepare concrete cylinders
- Perform compaction testing on soils and aggregate
- Conduct rebar inspection to verify placement, spacing, and compliance with project specifications
- Perform sample collection following proper procedures and chain-of-custody requirements
- Assist with various inspections throughout construction phases, as assigned
- Track time and mileage daily
- Submit samples, reports, and timecards daily
- Respond to emails, texts, and phone calls within a reasonable timeframe
- Document test results accurately and communicate findings to contractors and supervisors
- Maintain testing equipment and ensure proper calibration and cleanliness
- Follow all company and site-specific safety procedures
- Travel to job sites in the Pocatello and Idaho Falls regions
- Support project schedules, including occasional early mornings, late evenings, weekends, or out-of-town work when needed
- High School diploma or GED
- 1-2+ years of experience in construction materials testing and inspection,
- Exposure to or certification with field testing equipment (e.g., nuclear gauge)
- OSHA 10 certification (or ability to obtain)
- ACI Level1 field certification (or ability to obtain)
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and proof of insurance
- Willingness to travel to job sites and work occasional weekends, early mornings, late evenings, or out-of-town assignments as needed
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Professional work ethic, willingness to learn, and consistent attention to detail
- Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with the public, contractors, supervisors, and team members
- Ability to read and follow procedures accurately
- Strong attention to detail when collecting data, documenting results, and performing testing
- Able to work independently in the field while staying organized and meeting project requirements
- Comfortable taking initiative and offering recommendations to solve field issues
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
- Able to perform testing while other perform observation of conformance
- Ability to learn and pass certification exams (ACI, WAQTC, ICC)
