The Elementary Teacher Aide / Math Interventionist supports classroom learning and provides targeted math intervention to help students meet grade-level expectations. Under the direction of certified teachers and school leadership, this position delivers small-group and one-on-one instruction, implements intervention plans, monitors student progress, and supports a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesMath Intervention (Primary Focus)
- Provide small-group and individualized math instruction aligned to grade-level standards and school curriculum.
- Implement school-designated intervention programs and instructional strategies with fidelity.
- Use screening and classroom data to help identify student needs and adjust support accordingly.
- Monitor progress regularly; maintain accurate records, data logs, and intervention documentation.
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to coordinate interventions and reinforce core instruction.
- Communicate student progress to appropriate staff in a timely and professional manner.
Classroom Aide Support
- Assist teachers with daily instruction, classroom routines, and learning activities.
- Support student engagement, organization, and task completion during independent and small-group work.
- Help prepare and organize instructional materials, manipulatives, copies, and learning centers.
- Supervise students during transitions, recess, lunch, arrival/dismissal, and other assigned duties.
- Support a positive learning environment by reinforcing school expectations and classroom procedures.
- Provide support to students with varied learning needs, as directed by the teacher or support team.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in education, math, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with elementary-aged students preferred (school, tutoring, youth programs, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to support math instruction and implement interventions effectively.
- Strong organizational skills, reliability, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills; ability to follow direction and work as part of a team.
- Ability to manage groups of students and maintain a calm, professional presence.
