PE Paraprofessional/Title I Tutor/Duty Aide
Demonstrated knowledge relative to teaching the basics of PE motor skills and movement patterns. Ability to organize instructional activities, promotional activities, and general program management activities. Ability to work with staff, students, and the public. Previous experience preferred, but not mandatory. Knowledge and skill in the teaching and use of math and reading including the ability to pronounce vowels, consonants, phrases, and words in phonetically correct manner.
Ability to administer standardized and other diagnostic tests. Computer knowledge and experience with word processing, e-mail, spreadsheets, etc.
Support the delivery of School District 91's written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement. Develop in each student an appreciation of music and to help students develop musical knowledge and skills.
Prepares and delivers lessons in accordance with the district PE curriculum. Teaches the basics of PE motor skills, movement, strategies and tactics. Helps students achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of physical fitness. Correlates PE with other aspects of the curriculum, such as language arts, social studies, science, and art. Works with the Building Administrator to provide appropriate PE instruction. Encourages and motivates the enjoyment of various physical fitness activities by providing varied opportunities.
Works with other PE staff in planning and preparing activities and lessons for classes. Assists classroom teachers in coordinating the PE curriculum. Works with other specialists in planning and preparing activities and lessons for classes. Attends in-service classes, building meetings, and district meetings as requested. Administers reading and math tests to identify the level of student achievement. Works with small groups of students and with individual students in reading and math.
Maintains student files as requested and required by the needs of federal, state and local guidelines to track student progress. Prepares tutoring area and assists students on arrival and departure from tutoring area. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality. Has regular and predictable attendance. Supervises students at playtime and lunch and maintains harmonious atmosphere on the playground. Promotes safety and follows district discipline policy under the direction of the Building Administrator.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Limited full time position scheduled for 28.75 hours per week. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule Grade 6 $ 17.63 or $18.53 (with a bachelors degree or 5 years relevant experience) per hour for all of the positions listed. Any changes to these positions may cause a drop in salary to a grade
