The Mechanical Design Engineer will work closely with experienced engineers and consultants to provide design solutions and advice to clients, ensuring positive outcomes within budget and schedule constraints.
Responsibilities- Assist in the design and analysis of HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems.
- Utilize engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards.
- Interact with clients to understand needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively.
- Build and maintain client relationships through professional communication.
- Support project execution, support planning and scheduling tasks to meet project deadlines and objectives.
- Document design decisions and monitor project design progress.
- Analyze low‑to‑medium complexity engineering tasks and propose innovative solutions.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical, efficient solutions.
- Participate in IMEG quality control processes to meet industry standards and client requirements.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in mechanical engineering.
- Contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG.
- Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications.
- Strong technical and analytical skills, including thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics as they relate to HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems.
- Experience with industry standard engineering software, including HVAC load calculation tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
- Basic knowledge of BIM software.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to travel up to 5% with occasional overnight stays.
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent – required.
- Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry – preferred.
- Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) certification – preferred.
- Position is not eligible for sponsorship.
California salary range: $75,000 - $77,000 (may vary by location). Salary may be adjusted based on experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Annual bonuses and stock ownership options may apply.
