Job Summary

CECO Environmental is a leading provider of sustainable solutions for industrial air, water, and energy transition. The Associate Structural Engineer designs safe, efficient structural systems for industrial exhaust ducting in power generation projects, performing calculations, building 3‑D models, and collaborating with fabrication teams while ensuring compliance with relevant codes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform structural member sizing and analysis per LRFD/ASD methods, including static, wind, seismic, and thermal loading.
  • Develop 3‑D structural models of ducting, liners, and support steel.
  • Ensure designs meet AISC 360, ASCE 7, AWS D1.1, and applicable international building codes.
  • Review fabrication drawings, address shop inquiries, and resolve material issues.
  • Coordinate with pipe stress/mechanical engineers, project staff, and drafting personnel.
  • Prepare clear, organized structural calculation packages for client review.
Qualifications
  • Education
    :
    Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering.
  • Software Skills
    :
    Proficiency in STAAD.Pro or RISA‑3D and AutoCAD.
  • Industry Knowledge
    :
    Basic understanding of high‑temperature materials and thermal expansion.
  • Communication
    :
    Strong technical writing skills to document design choices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Autodesk Inventor or similar 3‑D mechanical design software.
  • Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) status preferred.
  • Basic understanding of thermal expansion in large‑lined and insulated ducting or plate structures.
  • Experience with FEM analysis and mesh modeling.
  • Knowledge of common industrial welding practices and fabrication constraints.
  • Ability to interpret process drawings, P&IDs, and coordinate ducting layouts with process requirements.
Travel Requirements
  • Travel is expected to be no more than 5% of working time.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
Physical & ADA Requirements
  • Typical office work with minimal computer use; occasional light physical tasks up to 20 lbs.
  • Requirements include typing, sitting, standing, reaching, and occasional lifting; full compliance with company attendance standards.
