Field Engineer ResponsibilitiesThe Naval Examination Acquisition Project (NEAP) is seeking a Field Engineer for the Construction and Contracts team to interface with design oversight engineering and subcontractors supporting the project. As NEAP transitions into the detailed design phase this position will work closely with the subcontracted Construction Manager to provide pre‑construction services and develop the construction management strategy. This individual may also be involved in developing and managing the commissioning approach.
The Field Engineer provides technical knowledge for development and execution of projects without compromising safety, reliability, quality, schedule and cost, as part of a multi‑disciplinary project team.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, science or construction field and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or Master’s degree and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; or currently a Principal Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.
Skills- Experience in development of technical documents such as specifications, work scopes, alternative options, or contract documents
- Effective communicator and problem solver
- Knowledgeable of 29 CFR 1926 OSHA Construction Industry Regulations and Standards
- Knowledgeable of Building Codes and Standards
- Experience with planning and executing projects
- Experience with development/review of cost estimates
- Experience with software tools, i.e. AutoCAD, Bluebeam, MS Office

This position is within the Naval Nuclear Laboratory operated for the U.S. Department of Energy by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities:
Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth
A. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense‑owned Nuclear Power Training Unit‑Charleston.
All candidates must be U.S. citizens. Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. FMP is a government contractor and maintains a drug‑free workplace and workforce. All candidates must pass a drug test in compliance with FMP company policy and 10 CFR 707.
