Position: Engineer of Radiological Work

Job Description

Are you a problem‑solver with a passion for engineering excellence? In this role, you'll support advancing spent nuclear fuel dry storage operations through innovative technical solutions, precision‑engineered tools, and smarter, safer processes. You'll drive meaningful improvements, enhance safety measures, and help shape the future of fuel storage operations – while ensuring every step aligns with local and federal regulatory requirements.

  • Develop the engineering controls, work procedures and supporting documents necessary to support dry storage of spent nuclear fuel.
  • Provide engineering support as work is executed to ensure compliance with engineered work products, including any updates or changes needed for work execution procedures.
  • Design special tooling, radiological containment, and safety equipment needed to support spent fuel packaging production.
  • Identify and implement process improvements.
  • Develop plans and reports and perform environmental characterization and investigation activities pursuant to local and federal regulatory programs.
Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field.
  • Currently an Advanced Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.
Preferred Skills
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • 3.2 GPA or higher in undergraduate and/or graduate coursework.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Ability to gain and maintain qualifications.

Internal preferred qualifications:
Engineer of Radiological Work Qualification & Engineer of Environmental Work Qualification.

Pay Range

$86,100.00 - $ annually. Salary information is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Eligibility Requirements

All candidates must be U.S. citizens. Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. FMP is a government contractor and maintains a drug‑free workplace. All candidates must be able to pass a drug test in compliance with FMP company policy and 10 CFR 707. Marijuana is a Federal Schedule I controlled substance and illegal under Federal Law.
