Project Engineer; Design​/Modification​/Operations

Position Overview

Project Engineer for the Calcine Disposition Project (CDP) will support planning project scope, identifying and organizing resources, and executing work for the CDP. Responsibilities include applying management and engineering principles to the design, modification, and operation of a test and processing facility at the DOE Idaho Site.

• Develop and review project plans and proposals and collaborate with management to determine project objectives.
• Identify project priorities by determining the phases and elements of the project; calculate time frames and sequence the stages of the project.
• Prepare and manage project budgets, including materials, labor, and other associated costs.
• Coordinate with different teams and professionals, such as contractors, business support services, and engineers to ensure all parties are aligned with the project objectives.
• Identify project risks, including analyzing and managing technical risks.
• Monitor project progress to ensure it is staying on schedule and within budget; make adjustments as necessary to ensure successful completion.
• Communicate project progress to ICP and DOE management and stakeholders as required or requested through reports and presentations.
• Oversee the troubleshooting and problem-solving process that addresses project needs and issues that may impact project success.
• Organize and archive project documentation, including keeping detailed project notes and records.
• Develop project-specific documentation (such as schedules, cost estimates, project management and engineering documentation, and compliance strategies) and ensure alignment with DOE directives and ICP company standards and procedures.
• Conduct routine field work at the DOE Idaho Site and engage with management, support organizations, and stakeholders.

• Experience working at a DOE facility and familiarity with DOE orders and requirements, specifically DOE O 413.3B, DOE-STD-, DOE-STD-1073, and DOE-STD-.
• Experience interfacing with multiple internal and external support organizations as well as with DOE and various stakeholders (Idaho DEQ, U.S. EPA, Tribal Nation, and the public).
• Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to juggle simultaneous duties and priorities with limited direction and supervision.
• Ability to work effectively under short deadlines with rapidly changing priorities and in collaboration with individual contributors and management.
• Strong written communication skills for technical and project documentation.
