Structural Engineering Intern

IMEG is hiring a Structural Engineering Intern in Idaho Falls,  10- 12 weeks, you'll assist in the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of structural systems in buildings and other structures while working closely with experienced engineers and consultants.

This mentored internship offers hands-on exposure to project research, design documentation, cross-functional coordination, and project progress tracking in support of project goals and client expectations. You'll also gain experience working within project budgets while supporting industrial, manufacturing, and MEP market work.

• Assist with structural design work for project discipline systems in accordance with code and IMEG standards.
• Assist with project research and finding resources related to project work.
• Support good client relations, project design notebook maintenance, and documentation for permanent record files.
• Assist with coordinating design and schedule with other disciplines, including architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and suppliers.
• Assist with documenting design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress.
• Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness before final check.
• Assist with preparation and issuance of addendum information.
• Conduct periodic job site observations and perform other services as required by the contract services agreement.

Required

Education

• Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent, required

Required Skills/Abilities

• Strong interest in design consulting
• Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software
• Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

Preferred

• Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

• A structural team nearly 400 strong delivering safe, efficient solutions
• One of the nation's largest award-winning structural consultants
• Steel, concrete, timber, seismic, facade, and long-span specialty design
• Tools include Revit, Tekla, and parametric workflows
• Advancing mass timber, seismic retrofitting, net zero, and SE2050 (eliminating embodied carbon in structural systems)
• Recent work includes U.S. Environmental Protection Agency / Ann Arbor, MI / National Vehicle and Fuel Emissions Laboratory / Energy Savings Performance Contract Design Oversight and Construction Follow-on Services, Government (Federal), FSU / Social Justice Museum / New Building, Education, and Faust Farms WTP and WWTP, Housing.
