Our Production Systems Engineering unit is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support and lead the development, planning, and execution of radiological mechanical systems throughout their full life cycle. In this role, you’ll research, design, verify, and develop mechanical and electromechanical equipment and fluid systems, recommending improvements that enhance safety, performance, efficiency, and cost. You may work in specialized areas such as thermal hydraulics, propulsion plant systems, component design, modeling and simulation, shock and vibration, acoustics, or structural analysis.

Responsibilities include coordinating fabrication, installation, testing, operation, and maintenance activities, analyzing engineering problems using data-driven methods, applying engineering standards, and preparing or reviewing technical documentation for system installation and operations.

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience;

or Currently a Senior Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.

$95,700.00 - $ annually

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities:
