Position
Purpose:
An Industrial safety professional (IS) provides occupational safety and health support to the INTEC-WM project organization, management, and personnel. Serves as advisor/consultant on industrial safety issues for INTEC-WM. Assess operations and line organizations regarding the adequacy of the Industrial Safety Program implementation. Implements the safety and health home organization's interpretations of requirements regarding OSHA regulations, DOE Orders, consensus standards, and other DOE contract requirements.
Uses expertise as a safety professional to serve as a technical expert to management in the development, maintenance, and implementation of industrial safety programs for INTEC-WM and is empowered to make decisions and recommendations with concurrence form management. This position works as a team with the INTEC-WM industrial hygienist, and Fire Protection Engineer to develop concepts and techniques that provide solutions to complex industrial safety situations.
The IS is involved in a broad range of industrial safety topical areas, including hazardous waste operations and needs to have both general industrial and construction safety experience, as well as environmental remediation. The IS supports company goals for operational excellence, Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) and Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS). The IS provides industrial hygiene technical support under the guidance of an industrial hygienist.
In addition to effectively functioning as an industrial safety professional, good communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.
Minimum Qualification Requirements (Education/Experience):
Bachelor's degree in Safety or Industrial Hygiene from an accredited college or university.
OR
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Science from an accredited college or university.
Experience:
At least two years of safety experience, CSP, and experience at HAZWOPER sites a plus.
Candidates should be knowledgeable in occupational safety and health regulations/standards that apply at a DOE contract facility subject to 10 CFR 851 requirements including the requirements from OSHA regulations, 29 CFR 1910 and 29 CFR 1926. Familiar with determination of hazard controls through a work control process and assessing implementation and effectiveness of controls during field walkdowns.
Salary Grade 15:
Bachelor’s Degree plus 2 years directly relevant experience
Salary Grade 18:
Bachelor’s Degree plus 12 years directly relevant experience
