Technician, Engineered Systems

Idaho Falls,

Standard Nuclear is fueling America's nuclear renaissance at industrial scale. Our mission is to deliver the essential building blocks of nuclear power—enabling cost-effective, safe, and secure energy for the world.

The Technician, Engineered Systems supports the installation, fabrication, modification, maintenance, commissioning, and troubleshooting of engineered process systems and equipment supporting nuclear fuel development and manufacturing operations. This role works hands-on with vacuum systems, furnaces, gas and chemical delivery systems, pneumatics, instrumentation, piping and tubing, mechanical assemblies, fixtures, and related process equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.

This is an experienced technician role for someone capable of working independently, interpreting technical drawings and procedures, diagnosing equipment and process issues, and completing practical field modifications and repairs. The Technician, Engineered Systems works closely with engineering, operations, maintenance, quality, EH&S, radiological controls, and equipment vendors to support equipment readiness, process reliability, and continuous improvement in a regulated nuclear manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

Engineered Systems Installation & Fabrication

  • Install, assemble, modify, and support engineered process equipment, skids, fixtures, piping and tubing, valves, fittings, brackets, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Perform hands-on fabrication and modification work using common shop tools, machining or fabrication methods, and approved work practices.
  • Support equipment layout, fit-up, alignment, anchoring, utility connections, and field changes during installation or upgrade activities.
  • Read and work from drawings, schematics, P&IDs, equipment manuals, bills of material, and engineering instructions.

Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on process equipment and supporting systems.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, vacuum, pneumatic, electrical, instrumentation, and process-related equipment issues.
  • Support furnaces, gas delivery systems, valves, regulators, pressure-control components, process skids, and related manufacturing equipment.
  • Identify root causes of recurring failures and implement or support corrective actions that improve reliability and reduce downtime.

Process Systems & Instrumentation

  • Install, inspect, adjust, and support instrumentation including pressure, temperature, flow, and other process measurement devices.
  • Assist with calibration, functional checks, leak checks, system verification, and basic loop or control troubleshooting.
  • Support chemical and gas handling systems, furnaces, thermal-processing equipment, pneumatic systems, and other engineered process utilities.
  • Work with engineering and operations to evaluate equipment performance and implement practical system improvements.

Commissioning, Qualification & Continuous Improvement

  • Support equipment commissioning, acceptance testing, qualification, decommissioning, and return-to-service activities.
  • Execute test plans, checklists, equipment verifications, and system walkdowns under engineering direction.
  • Develop and use precision measurement methods, gauges, fixtures, or go/no-go tools where appropriate.
  • Assist with equipment upgrades, process improvements, reliability initiatives, and design-for-maintainability improvements.

Documentation, Safety & Cross-Functional Support

  • Create and maintain maintenance records, procedures, work instructions, equipment documentation, and field-change records.
  • Document troubleshooting results, repairs, modifications, measurements, and as-found/as-left equipment conditions accurately.
  • Perform work in accordance with site safety, radiological, environmental, quality, and configuration-control requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineers, operators, maintenance personnel, quality, EH&S, radiological controls, and vendors to support production and project needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree, technical diploma, apprenticeship, or relevant trade certification in electromechanical…
