Job Summary And QualificationsAs an EKG Technician you will be responsible for obtaining electrocardiograms used to diagnose abnormalities of the heart by attaching electrodes and operating electrocardiographic equipment. Responsibilities- Prepare patients for Cardiac Stress test, ensuring proper test results and clearly explaining test procedures.
- Follow established surveillance, prevention, and control of infection policies and procedures to identify and reduce the risk of acquiring or transmitting infection by use of personal protective measures.
- Always ensure that equipment is clean and in proper working condition. If equipment malfunctions are identified, the director is notified immediately.
- Accurately obtain a resting 12‑lead electrocardiogram by properly prepping and placing lead electrodes on the patient’s limbs and chest.
- BLS or BCLS certification (American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course).
- Experience with EKG training on the job – preferred.
- EKG rhythm interpretation – preferred.
