Job Description
Idaho National Laboratory seeks High Performance Computing Professionals to maintain and optimize the computing infrastructure that powers groundbreaking research in nuclear energy, national security, and scientific discovery. You'll diagnose and solve operational problems in HPC systems, install, configure, and maintain system software, develop automation scripts for processes, and troubleshoot and tune systems for optimal performance. Your responsibilities include conducting system performance analysis, interacting with users to resolve issues and provide training, documenting administration procedures, assisting with backups of classified and unclassified networks, applying security updates in accordance with NIST controls, and collaborating with cybersecurity personnel to address critical vulnerabilities.
Your expertise with Linux administration tools, common services, protocols, and ports will ensure that researchers have access to the high-performance computing resources needed to advance next-generation technologies.
Essential Job Functions:
- Diagnose and solve HPC system operational problems.
- Install, configure, and maintain HPC system software.
- Develop automation scripts for processes.
- Troubleshoot and tune HPC systems and software for performance.
- Conduct system performance analysis and tuning.
- Interact with users to resolve HPC-related issues and provide training.
- Document system administration procedures.
- Assist with backups of classified and unclassified local area networks.
- Apply security updates and adhere to NIST controls.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity personnel to address critical vulnerabilities.
Required:
- Level 1:
Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline from an accredited institution and 0 years of relevant experience. - Level 2:
Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline from an accredited institution and 2 years of relevant experience; or an Advanced of Science degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline from an accredited institution and 0 years of relevant experience. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Applicants are subject to the requirements of DOE O 142.3B, Unclassified Foreign National Access Program and require that applicants have U.S. citizenship.

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, use hands to handle materials, manipulate tools, keyboard and type, reach with hands and arms, and operate job-related equipment. Job Information:
Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a High Performance Computing Professional to work on our High Performance Computing team. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our REC facility with every other Friday off.
- The pay range for this position is: Level 1 ($66,504 - $136,356) / Level 2 ($79,344 - $162,732). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
