Overview
CopperPoint has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Associate Underwriter I. In this role, you will assist the Underwriter with the quoting, issuance, and ongoing maintenance of new and renewal business across Workers’ Compensation and Property & Casualty lines. You will own end-to-end process and workflow responsibility for assigned new and renewal accounts, including reviewing and requesting required underwriting information to support accurate policy quoting, issuance, and maintenance.
Responsibilities- Prepare quotes based on set criteria/thresholds/revisions and instructions from Underwriting
- Assist in reviewing quotes in rating system pre underwriting to ensure quality control for new and renewal business.
- Solicit renewal information from broker/agency to include sending required pre-renewal notifications
- Quality assurance of below throughout the lifecycle of policy:
- Loss information in account summary. Underwriting platform/system
- Operations and exposures
- Pricing
- Premium Audits
- Endorsements
- Bind & Issue Policies:
- Post bind, complete necessary Underwriting notifications, bind reinsurance, tracks quote subjectivities and update various policy expiration activities including quotes that were not accepted for future new business pipelining.
- Review endorsement transactions, cancellation requests and non-renewals for forwarding to Underwriter or approval if within AU Guidelines
- Provide clear, timely and professional communication to agency personnel
- Assist in training of new hires
- Participates in Job Shadows and Quality Control
- Takes the lead in overseeing and resolving Regulatory Bureau/Agency Errors and Crits
- IE NCCI, WCIRB, Fronting Carrier Reporting resolutions
- Triage and training for Fronting and Reinsurance Carriers
- Complete special projects as assignment by manager
- Assist in basic workflow and lower level technical questions from the team
- Performs with complete autonomy
- Participates in Enterprise Initiatives that require a Subject Matter Expert
- Process Filings when needed
- Handles the most difficult and complex accounts
- Many to be considered high profile / white glove service eligible
- Master within specified Lines of Business(es)
- Ability to quote and bill Loss Sensitive and Retro rated policies
- Ability to assist Leadership with maintaining written procedures are efficient, up to date and being utilized within the team
- Liaison to other departments within the Enterprise as a Subject Matter Expert as it relates to:
- Underwriting Systems Development, Training & Quality Programs, Regulatory Bureau, etc.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in a related discipline i.e., Marketing, Finance, Business
- Minimum 4 years of full- time work experience in insurance can be utilized on a year for year basis as a substitute for a degree.
- Knowledge and/or experience with commercial lines of insurance (Specifically Property, GL, Umbrella & Auto Lines is a plus), i.e., classification and experience rating.
- Insurance related designations are a plus (ie: AINS, AU, ARM, etc)
- Must be detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication (both verbal and written)
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize workload and problem solve
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Must be able to partner effectively with Underwriters
- Successful in a fast-paced environment and adaptable to change

- Employees will accrue 0.0692 hours of Paid Time Off (PTO) per paid hour, which may total 18 days a year. In addition, employees will also receive 10 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
- $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 annually
