Overview
The Idaho Falls Police Department (IFPD) is creating a list of eligible candidates for the position of Police Officer. We are continuously accepting applications with passing written exam and physical agility test scores.
How to ApplyIFPD conducts all police officer testing through (PST). You can take our written and physical agility tests at various locations around the country. Choose the Idaho Falls Police Department on the PST website when you sign up so we are notified of your results if you aren’t testing in person at IFPD.
IFPD will administer the in-person written exam and physical agility test in Idaho Falls periodically. Please check with IFPD about upcoming test dates by calling or emailing Police Recruitment.
Whether you test in-person at IFPD, or online through PST, you must fill out an application on the City of Idaho Falls website (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). and you must register for testing through PST’s website.
To apply for the written exam and physical agility:

- Select Idaho under Police/Sheriff/Trooper then click Next
- Click the checkbox next to IFP Police Department then click Next
It will guide you through the registration and sign‑up process. Please note that there is a charge for the exam.
- Applicants will be able to send their test results to the Idaho Falls Police Department.
- Applicants will be able to access information on testing procedures.
- Applicants will be able to choose a testing date, time, and location most convenient for them.

Enforces all applicable city, state, laws and ordinances by apprehending, citing and arresting violators as appropriate; investigates criminal activity, gathers evidence, interviews victims, witnesses and suspects and takes appropriate action to solve case and to bring suspects before proper judicial process; investigates traffic accidents, enforces traffic and parking violations; directs traffic and assists motorists as needed; serves warrants, processes, notices, summons and subpoenas and keeps records of disposition.
Respondsto Calls for Service
Renders aid to distressed citizens by maintaining the peace, supplying information, and aiding in assisting the citizens as applicable.
ReportingCompletes detailed and accurate reports of daily activities, criminal cases, arrests, traffic accidents and other cases as appropriate; presents evidence and testimony in court and other hearings as required.
Vehicle & EquipmentOperates police vehicle and other department equipment in a manner that will maximize its life span and will provide the utmost safety for the officer and the public; maintains visible presence to deter and prevent crime; checks for building security and illegal activity.
Public RelationsPerforms ongoing public relations to enhance the image of the department within the community; as assigned, represents the department by speaking at public meetings and schools to educate and inform citizens; presents a professional image in both appearance and demeanor.
Crime Prevention/Gangs/Vice/DAREParticipates in delivering program(s) unique to elementary, Junior High and High schools; focuses on safety, drug awareness, alcohol (DUI), gang activity, truancy, violence, theft, vandalism, trespassing, traffic, etc.; conducts lectures, workshops, classes, or gives presentations related to criminal activity within the schools to assist school officials; educates participants and youth regarding law enforcement practices; demonstrates specialized equipment explains efficiency and effectiveness of the same.
DomesticViolence & Child Abuse Prevention
Educates public regarding effective action through organized community efforts; develops and delivers domestic violence and child abuse prevention programs.
Training & EducationPolice Officers receive training in law enforcement principles and procedures, such as criminal investigation, evidence collection, patrol, and traffic procedures. Receives training in applicable Laws, Ordinances, Codes, and…
