Machinist

Job Overview

American Fabrication, an employee‑owned company, is recruiting a Machinist. Standard shifts run Monday through Thursday. Compensation is based on experience and qualifications.

• Operate manual equipment, CNC mills, and lathes.
• Design, build, and set up tooling and fixtures for machining operations.
• Write and edit CNC programs using Solid Works, CAD, and Fusion 360.
• Program and operate HAAS machines with 4‑5 axes, setting G‑codes and machine speeds and feed rates.
• Must be able to fabricate parts with close tolerances according to DOE and naval specifications.
• Estimate, quote, and schedule production and prototype work.
• Machine, assemble, test prototype devices, equipment, and tooling per verbal or written specifications.
• Collaborate with customers’ engineers, technicians, and the account team.

• Valid driver’s license.
• Drug‑screening clearance.
• Proficiency with G‑codes, HAAS 4‑5 axis machines.
• Experience using Solid Works, CAD, and Fusion 360.
• Ability to interpret drawings, solid models, sketches, and mandatorily perform calculations including trigonometry.
• Demonstrate aptitude through skills testing.
• Self‑directed, requires little supervision.
• Preferred:
  Government contract machining experience.
