Maintenance Manager

Maintenance Manager is responsible to coordinate and delegate maintenance for the entire plant (Facility, Packaging and Production) to ensure the plant equipment and structures are in good operating condition.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Provide guidance and direction to the maintenance department by managing a team of supervisors, technicians and support staff in completion and oversight of all maintenance-related work.
  • Actively manage employees, which includes, but is not limited to communicating job expectations, addressing performance concerns, managing attendance, issuing disciplinary actions when needed, investigating, and resolving employee issues, reducing turnover through employee engagement, and recognizing employees.
  • Embrace a safety conscious attitude with direct reports and other team members and take responsibility for minimizing all incidents, injuries, and accidents on shift.
  • Accurately and immediately report all incidents, injuries, and accidents and complete the required incident investigation and any other reporting requirements.
  • Utilize equipment records for predictive and preventive maintenance. Develop maintenance procedures and ensure implementation of the maintenance plan. Develop and direct internal maintenance activities and spare parts management with the goal of safely achieving budgeted manufacturing equipment utilization, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Work with Packaging and Production departments to coordinate and scheduled downtime to maintain equipment. Plan for and execute major overhaul of equipment.
  • Collaborate with leadership team to prepare an effective budget for annual operations. Control material inventory to maintain equipment readiness while maintaining low-cost spare parts inventory.
  • Drive employee performance by giving clear directions and expectations, then providing meaningful feedback to aid performance.
  • Create a high-performance culture within your team where improvement suggestions are embraced.
  • Contribute to the improvement of working procedures by constantly looking for solutions to ensure the best productivity results are achieved on equipment, while maintaining compliance with company procedures.
  • Participate in the training of maintenance technicians and ensure that their skills have been validated in a timely manner in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Support, comply, and ensure complicity with Environmental Health and Safety policies and procedures, Human Resource policies, Idahoan Foods Employee Handbook, Quality Assurance policies and procedures, Sanitation policies and procedures, and all other company policies and procedures.
  • Engages interest and participation of employees and has a collaborative approach to working together.
  • Actively committed to the development of employees.
  • Communicate frequently and often with Plant Manager and/or Plant Engineering Manager to ensure compliance with maintenance plan.
  • Provide regular training, counseling, and feedback to direct reports to provide maximum engagement and utilization of an employee's skills and abilities.
  • Actively participate in the recruitment and retention of team members with guidance and assistance from Human Resources.
  • Takes an active role in improvement initiatives, including employee engagement initiatives, safety programs, employee training, IT initiatives, etc. Must ensure that direct reports understand, use, and embrace new improvement initiatives.
  • All other duties, responsibilities, and projects as assigned or required.

Qualifications/required skills include:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Science, or Engineering from an accredited college/university and five years' experience in a packaging plant, or ten years' experience in a manufacturing facility.
  • Proficient with computers, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Language skills include:

  • Ability to read, comprehend, and compose simple to complex instructions, policies, procedures, and correspondence.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Communicates proactively.

Reasoning ability includes:

  • Possesses strong analytical, quantitative, communication, problem-solving, and technical skills.
  • Demonstrates the self-confidence and maturity to make decisions and solve problems with minimal direction.
  • Organized and able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
