Position: ED - CLINICAL TEAM LEAD/REGISTERED NURSE

Overview

Idaho Falls Community Hospital is looking for a Clinical Team Lead to join our team!

JOB SUMMARY: Clinical Team Lead/Charge nurse functions as the shift leader and resource nurse who advocates for patient care and safety as well as managing all shift staff members. As needed, the Charge nurse will also provide direct and indirect patient care in the hospital setting. Communicate with physicians/nurse manager/co-workers and interdisciplinary team, as appropriate about changes in patient’s condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomology.

Charge nurse will be able and prepared to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Additionally, is able to perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision to include the duties of the Registered Nurse. Additional responsibilities will be listed on separate document “Charge Nurse Responsibilities” and will be adjusted as Manager and unit needs arise.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • The Charge nurse will be responsible to understand and perform all the duties specified on the “Charge Nurse Responsibilities” document and any additional duties as directed by ED Manager/Supervisor.
  • Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy. This includes: pediatric, geriatric and the general patient population.
  • Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
  • Ability to revise plan of care as indicated by the patient’s response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness.
  • Ability to interpret results of lab tests; take appropriate action on lab test results.
  • Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient’s age.
  • Knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition.
  • Follow the five 5 medication rights and reduce the potential for medication errors.
  • Formulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning, family is included in teaching as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates an ability to assist physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills.

Please note benefits are based on eligibility according to full-time, part-time or PRN status classification.

Qualifications

Education/Certification: Graduate of an accredited RN program. Current RN licensure in the state of Idaho. Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications and renewals as required. Complete the Basic Dysrhythmia class as directed by management.

Experience: At least 4 years of Emergency Department nursing experience prior to eligibility for ED Charge Nurse position.
