As a RN Burn ICU, your voice to influence patient care is valued and empowered at every turn –whether through open, collaborative relationships with your direct manager or more formal opportunities through hospital councils and national nursing initiatives. You'll help shape decisions that elevate both patient outcomes and the future of nursing.

Job Summary and Qualifications

In this role:

  • Work closely with multi-disciplinary team such as other nurses, physicians, psychologists, pain management experts and physical therapists to ensure for physical and emotional support of patient and families
  • Assess temperature and vital signs and characteristics of urine and sputum every 1–4 hours.
  • Monitor white blood cells, burn wound healing status and invasive catheter sites.
  • Ensure appropriate protective isolation; provide meticulous wound care; educate visitors in burn unit guidelines.
  • Clean and dress burns following guidelines specific to the type of burn
  • Work closely with multi-disciplinary team such as other nurses, physicians, psychologists, pain management experts and physical therapists to ensure for physical and emotional support of patient and families
  • Triage, stabilize, monitor and manage pain and fluid balances
  • When census is low in the Burn Unit be willing to float to other units such as ICU or PICU.
What qualifications you will need:
  • Current Idaho State RN license in good standing.
  • Associates degree in nursing required, Bachelor preferred
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification preferred. Must obtain BLS or BCLS on hire
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS) and Certification preferred. Must obtain ALS or ACLS is required within 6 months of hire or transfer into ICU.
  • TNCC is required within 18 months of hire or transfer into ICU.
  • PALS is a highly recommended advanced course, however, is not mandatory.
  • Level I competencies are required to be completed by the end of the first 18 months of employment
  • Level II competencies are required to be completed by the end of the third year of employment
  • One or more year of higher acuity (hospital) RN experience required
  • One or more years ICU nursing experience preferred
