RN Burn ICU

Hourly Wage Estimate: $32.45 - $48.68 / hour

As an RN Burn ICU, your voice to influence patient care is valued and empowered at every turn – whether through open, collaborative relationships with your direct manager or more formal opportunities through hospital councils and national nursing initiatives. You'll help shape decisions that elevate both patient outcomes and the future of nursing.

• Work closely with a multidisciplinary team such as other nurses, physicians, psychologists, pain management experts, and physical therapists to ensure physical and emotional support for patients and families.
• Assess temperature and vital signs and characteristics of urine and sputum every 1–4 hours.
• Monitor white blood cells, burn wound healing status, and invasive catheter sites.
• Ensure appropriate protective isolation; provide meticulous wound care; educate visitors in burn unit guidelines.
• Clean and dress burns following guidelines specific to the type of burn.
• Triage, stabilize, monitor, and manage pain and fluid balances.
• When census is low in the Burn Unit, be willing to float to other units such as ICU or PICU.

• Current Idaho State RN license in good standing.
• Associate’s degree in nursing required;
  Bachelor preferred.
• American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification preferred; must obtain BLS or BCLS on hire.
• American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS) and Certification preferred; must obtain ALS or ACLS within 6 months of hire or transfer into ICU.
• TNCC required within 18 months of hire or transfer into ICU.
• PALS is highly recommended but not mandatory.
• Level I competencies required to be completed by the end of the first 18 months of employment.
• Level II competencies required to be completed by the end of the third year of employment.
• One or more year of higher acuity (hospital) RN experience required.
• One or more years ICU nursing experience preferred.
