Provides direct patient care consistent with the unit’s standards of care. Meets the communication needs of the patient/family, departmental staff and medical staff. Demonstrates basic computer knowledge, prepares and compiles patient records, initiates directions from physicians and nursing staff, participates in performance improvement and quality assurance activities, and maintains regulatory agency requirements, nursing and hospital policies, procedures and standards.

• Deliver direct nursing care to patients in the unit.
• Communicate patient information to families and medical staff.
• Use basic computer systems to document patient records.
• Follow physician and nursing staff instructions in patient care.
• Participate in quality improvement and performance activities.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, nursing and hospital policies and procedures.
• Maintain a professional, respectful attitude toward staff, physicians, patients and families.

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Current Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and renewal as required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Prior CNA experience preferred.
• Ability to use computer software for department operations.
• Fluent in reading, writing and speaking English.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Strong multitasking, problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others.
• Ability to work efficiently and effectively without close supervision.
• Understanding of office support functions, including word processing, filing and data management.
• Maintains confidentiality and handles difficult client situations and emergencies calmly.
