Operating Room Nurse

We are seeking an experienced Operating Room Nurse to join our team for a 13-week assignment in Idaho Falls,  role requires strong surgical skills and the ability to handle trauma cases effectively.

Unit Information

• Number of ORs: 13
• Staffing:
  • M-F:  with 13 RNs / 13 CSTs covering up to 10 rooms
  • Afternoon:  with 8 RNs / 8 CSTs covering up to 7 rooms
  • Evening:  with 6 RNs / 5 CSTs covering up to 4 rooms
  • Late Night:  with 3 RNs / 2 CSTs covering up to 2 rooms
  • Night:  with 1 RN / 1 CST covering trauma
  • Weekend:  with 1 RN / 1 CST covering trauma
• Patient Ratios:
  Average of 50 hours of surgical time Monday – Friday; weekends vary with a heavier workload on Saturdays.
• Electronic Medical Record:
  Meditech

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care during surgical procedures in the operating room.
• Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure patient safety and effective surgical outcomes.
• Monitor patients' vital signs and administer medications as necessary.
• Assist in the preparation of the operating room and ensure all equipment is functioning correctly.
• Respond to emergency situations as required.

Qualifications

• Required:
  • 3+ years of experience in the operating room setting.
  • Experience with trauma cases.
  • Flexibility for shifts and on-call duties.
• Preferred:
  • CNOR certification.
  • Experience with burn, robotic, and neuro procedures.

Typical Procedures

• Burn operations, including wound debridement and skin grafting.
• Dental surgeries and oral maxillofacial procedures.
• ENT operations, including tonsillectomy and parathyroidectomy.
• Gastroenterology procedures such as EGD and colonoscopy.
• General surgeries across a wide range of specialties.
• Gynecological surgeries, including hysterectomies.
• Neurosurgical procedures, including spinal fusions and craniotomies.
• Open-heart surgeries, including CABG.
• Ophthalmology procedures such as cataract surgeries.
• Orthopedic surgeries, including trauma and joint replacements.
• Plastic surgeries, including breast augmentations.
• Psychiatric procedures such as electroconvulsive therapy.
• Robotic surgeries across various specialties.
• Trauma surgeries, including damage control surgery.
• Urological procedures, including cystoscopy and TURP.
