Summary

What General Information Do I Need To Know About This Position? This position is located within the Department of the Interior, US Geological Survey, NW-pacific Island Reg, Field office - IDAHO FALLS, IDAHO. Salary: $89,508 (Step 01) to $116,362 (Step 10) The salary range listed is based on the associated General Schedule Locality pay tables as determined by the Locality Pay Area Definitions.

Major Duties
  • Responsible for the technical and administrative supervision of a large and complex staff in professional, technical, clerical and administrative work to carry out the mission of the organization.
  • Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates; makes assignments based on capability and expertise; evaluates the subordinate supervisors' performance and the performance of those employees reporting directly to him/her; gives advice or instruction to subordinates on work and administrative matters.
  • The incumbent shares the responsibility of IDWSC's engagement with the public and local partners. They supply pertinent water resources information to Federal, State, local, and Tribal agencies through various channels including meetings, briefings, emails, and phone communications.
  • The incumbent is responsible for planning and scheduling the construction and maintenance of 83 sites (including streamgages, water-quality stations, discrete monitoring locations, and groundwater wells), and periodic groundwater and QW synoptics including hundreds of potential sites managed by their section of the Upper Columbia Idaho Field Office.
  • Physical Demands
    - The work regularly requires considerable dexterity, agility, and strenuous physical exertion such as: climbing and/or working from tall ladders and scaffolding; work in areas where footing is treacherous such as slippery riverbanks, steep rocky terrain, or fast-moving water; lifting heavy objects weighing 23 kilograms (50 pounds) or more or crouching or crawling in restricted areas.
  • Work Environment
    - Office conditions do not require special safety precautions; field conditions may include extreme heat or cold, rain or snow, possible aggressive wildlife encounters, and hazardous conditions such as ice or flooding, or exposure to irritant or toxic chemicals.
  • Work may require the use of special clothing or gear such as masks, coats, boots, goggles, respirators, or life jackets.
Education

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, Ameri Corps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education completed in colleges or universities outside the United States may be used to meet the above requirements. You must provide acceptable documentation that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.
