Under the direction of the Sustainability & Stewardship Coordinator, the Winter Sustainability Associate will support our guest facing waste diversion system to ensure a quality guest experience that also achieves our diversion goals.

How You'll Make a DifferenceAs a Winter Sustainability Associate, you'll be part of Bogus Basin's efforts to reduce waste, improve recycling and composting, and educate the guests on climate action. You'll play a hands-on role in advancing the resort's sustainability goals.
A Day in the LifeYour day will be focused on sorting guest's waste into the proper waste stream. This involves operating the main waste diversion stations, bussing tables, transporting waste to our waste diversion center and providing guest education on why recycling and composting is important. Depending on the day, you might also assist our beverage team with cleaning and maintaining the guest eating area.
EssentialFunctions of the Job
- Sort guest waste into recycling, compost, and landfill waste streams.
- Transport waste from the lodges to our waste diversion center
- Maintain waste stations and signage.
- Buss and clean tables
- Provide guest education on recycling, composting, and other means of reducing waste.
- Assist with coordinating and communicating with volunteers
- Assist our food and beverage team with occasional support tasks.
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements What You Bring to Bogus Basin- Some education in sustainability, environmental science, environmental education, conservation, leadership, or related field.
- Passion and basic knowledge of sustainability & waste diversion programs
- Must be at least 20 years of age with a valid driver's license.
- Ability to safely operate a truck in wintry conditions
- Passion for the Bogus Basin Mission.
- Excellent verbal and written science communication skills.
- Desire to care for open spaces and the environment.
- Comfortable communicating with the public about sustainability initiatives.
- Background check required.
- Availability to work for the entire season, including weekends (usually mid-November/December through mid-April; weather conditions dependent).
- Previous experience in educating on or executing waste diversion programs
- Lift and carry items up to 50 lbs.
- Work in cold wintry conditions
- Operate vehicles including trucks and side by sides
