Job Description: The role ensures the safety and security of the airport by conducting screening operations, enforcing compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and maintaining the airport security program. Responsibilities include setting up, operating, and maintaining aviation worker screening equipment; detecting and preventing prohibited items from entering secured areas; responding to security events; and promoting a positive safety culture.
Responsibilities- Promote a positive safety and security culture at the airport.
- Assist with maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and local government rules and regulations, including the airport security program.
- Set up and take down aviation worker screening equipment at various locations and times in compliance with the program.
- Ensure screening equipment is functional before each session and report issues immediately to the Airport Safety and Security Manager or designee.
- Screen people and property to detect and prevent dangerous and prohibited items such as weapons and explosives in accordance with established standards.
- Maintain screening logs for each session.
- Respond to security alarms, conduct general inspections, monitor access control features, and clear security events to restore normal operations.
- Perform related duties as necessary and directed.
- This position is subject to recall for emergencies, special events, or as directed by the Airport Director.
- Education and Experience: High school graduate or equivalency required. Desired: previous experience in a safety and security critical position.
- Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities: Ability to operate highly technical equipment; physical ability to bend, stoop, crouch, stand, and manipulate body; understanding of access control systems; customer service skills; logical decision‑making; proficiency with modern office equipment and written communication; ability to establish working relationships with employees, the public, and tenants; knowledge of basic security practices.

Qualifications:
Valid State of Idaho driver’s license; ability to pass a criminal history records check and TSA security threat assessment; capable of earning designation as a TSA Trusted Agent. - Position works a variable schedule and is subject to 24/7 recall due to emergencies.
The role requires a range of physical activities, including walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, and lifting. Tasks involve talking, hearing, and seeing. The environment is primarily indoors with periodic office and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
