Fiber Optic Splicer – Travel Role Montana and Idaho (Utilities / Telecom)
Project-based opportunity supporting large-scale fiber and 5G infrastructure projects across the U.S.
We are seeking experienced Fiber Optic Splicers to support outside plant (OSP) telecommunications work for major providers nationwide. This role requires candidates who are open to travel
, comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
, and experienced with both aerial and underground fiber splicing
.
A company truck and gas card are provided.
What You’ll Do- Splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic networks (FTTH, backbone, and customer builds)
- Perform aerial and underground fiber splicing
, including work in manholes and confined spaces - Conduct OTDR and power meter testing to validate network integrity
- Work in live fiber environments and install/maintain fiber closures
- Read and interpret fiber prints, schematics, and technical documentation
- Complete daily safety documentation and production reporting
- Support preventative maintenance and ensure quality standards are met
- Hands-on experience with fiber optic splicing (single fiber, ribbon, fusion)
- Proficiency with OTDR testing and fiber troubleshooting
- Experience with aerial and underground OSP fiber
, including weather exposure - Ability to travel for project-based work
- Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and ability to work independently
