Description
Increased to $21.45/hr. upon successful completion of training and skills validation.
Job purpose
The primary responsibility of the Forklift Operator is to efficiently and effectively move products and material to and from the processing/packaging lines and trucks for transfer between plants. Move material inbound or outbound on trucks using the Company Mobility system and report any issue with the functionality of the Forklift.
Main Responsibilities- Responsible for keeping the warehouse organized to utilize first in first out (FIFO).
- Operate forklift attachments effectively with excellent driving skills.
- Multi-task effectively and efficiently.
- Maintain a forklift license, including use of Mobility (company barcode system).
- Document the inspection of all trailers before loading.
- Ensure product is loaded in good condition, counts are correct, and trailer is not overloaded.
- Maintain accurate inventory (assist with cycle counts). Have working knowledge of item numbers and weights.
- Maintain warehouse cleanliness, organization, and correct locations and IDs of all items.
- Comply with safety regulations, attend safety meetings, and follow plant and safety rules.
- Follow good manufacturing practices as set by company policy.
- Supply packaging lines with WIP and materials.
- Move production totes from staging area to the warehouse.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Education and/or
Experience:
Previous experience around processing equipment preferred. Forklift certification required. - Language
Skills:
Effective oral communication with supervisor and co-workers. Ability to read, write, and accurately complete paperwork. - Reasoning Ability:
Self-confidence and maturity to make decisions with minimal direction. Team player, adaptable to change, good decision-making skills, and the ability to think ahead.
- Work Environment:
May involve heavy lifting up to 75 lbs. Physical activity, ability to work around hot temperatures, tend to time constraints, good hand/eye coordination, and 20/20 corrected vision. Ability to stand on concrete floors for extended periods, follow safety precautions, and use cleaning chemicals and sanitizers safely. Ability to start work at least 30 minutes early, stay late as needed, and work weekends (Saturdays and possibly Sundays).
May work at different facilities and tolerate cold conditions. Teamwork is essential.

- Validation means demonstrating proficiency in the assigned job.
- New Forklift Operator I team members must validate within their position. Once validated, the pay rate changes from training rate to full pay rate (+ $.75).
- Team members who cannot validate within the first 10 weeks may move to an open position they qualify for (at that position’s pay rate). If no position exists, the team member may be exited from Idahoan.
