Commercial Refrigeration Technician

The Commercial Refrigeration Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial refrigeration systems. Under the guidance of the Area Service Manager (ASM), the technician will handle routine service, warranty work, and emergency repairs, ensuring systems meet industry standards.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, excellent troubleshooting abilities, and a customer-focused approach. Commercial Refrigeration Technicians are expected to prioritize safety, satisfaction, and client comfort while promoting the company's values of quality service and integrity.

Responsibilities include providing the highest level of customer service, technical ability, and quality to our customers. The technician will install, maintain, and repair most standard refrigeration units for commercial customers such as reach-in coolers and freezers, beverage dispensers, walk-in coolers and freezers, and rack units. They will diagnose and repair electronic, mechanical, and electrical components of the commercial refrigeration systems.

The technician will travel to job sites in assigned service areas and work with assigned Dispatcher(s) to ensure the schedule is maintained and delays are properly communicated to customers. They will be available to work nights and weekends on a rotating basis to address emergency service needs for customers.

The technician will maintain good working order of the company vehicle, including cleaning and organizing, and washing the vehicle a minimum of once per week. They will maintain proper stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment upon arrival, including make, model, serial number, type of fuel, and pictures as necessary.

The technician will document details of services and parts provided to customers electronically through company-provided cell phone and/or iPad applications. They will diagnose a variety of service issues, obtain necessary replacement parts, calibrate systems according to manufacturer specifications, and clearly communicate the issue(s) and recommended solutions to the client.

The technician will participate in company-provided training opportunities and adhere to all safety policies and procedures. They will identify and report potential opportunities for additional business to management and follow all environmental regulations, including the handling and disposal of refrigerants, in accordance with EPA guidelines.

Qualifications include excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal abilities. The technician must have in-depth knowledge of refrigeration, electrical, and mechanical systems, proficient in reading schematics, work plans, and using diagnostic tools, refrigerant recovery equipment, and specialized instruments. They should have strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, advanced understanding of air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration principles, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The technician must be highly dependable and consistent in delivering quality work, enthusiastic, with strong integrity, craftsmanship, and a positive attitude. Basic computer skills for communication and documentation using iPads and/or cell phones are required. The technician must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required and able to travel to assigned client sites.
