POSITION SUMMARY

The Yard Butler is seeking a dependable, motivated, and experienced Enhancement Crew Lead to join our team. This position is responsible for leading a small crew in completing landscape enhancement projects safely, efficiently, and according to The Yard Butler's quality standards.

The Enhancement Crew Lead is a hands‑on position and will work alongside crew members while providing daily direction, coordinating materials and equipment, monitoring job progress, and ensuring projects are completed correctly and within the expected labour hours.

Enhancement projects may include landscape renovations, plant and tree installation, rock and mulch installation, sod, edging, irrigation modifications, property improvements, seasonal enhancements, and other landscape‑related projects.

The ideal candidate has landscape or construction experience, strong leadership skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to keep a crew productive while maintaining quality workmanship.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Crew Leadership & Daily Operations
  • Lead and work alongside enhancement crew members on assigned projects.
  • Provide clear daily direction and communicate job expectations to crew members.
  • Assign tasks based on project needs and crew abilities.
  • Keep the crew productive and focused throughout the workday.
  • Monitor employee performance and communicate concerns or training needs to the supervisor.
  • Help train crew members on proper landscaping techniques, equipment use, and company expectations.
  • Maintain a professional and positive work environment.
  • Ensure crew members follow company policies and procedures.
Landscape Enhancements & Installation
  • Perform and oversee landscape enhancement projects, including:
  • Plant, shrub, and tree installation.
  • Rock, mulch, and decorative material installation.
  • Sod installation and lawn repairs.
  • Landscape bed renovation and cleanup.
  • Edging and landscape preparation.
  • Irrigation repairs and modifications related to enhancement projects.
  • Removal and replacement of existing landscape materials.
  • Seasonal and property improvement projects.
  • Read and follow project plans, work orders, and job instructions.
  • Ensure installations are completed according to specifications and company quality standards.
  • Identify potential job‑site issues and communicate them to the appropriate supervisor.
Job Production & Quality Control
  • Review assigned work and expectations before beginning each project.
  • Monitor job progress and ensure work is being completed efficiently.
  • Help ensure projects stay within assigned labour hours and material quantities.
  • Verify completed work meets The Yard Butler's quality standards before leaving the property.
  • Maintain clean and organised job sites throughout the project.
  • Complete final job‑site cleanup before leaving the property.
  • Communicate job progress, delays, material needs, or other concerns to the supervisor.
Equipment, Vehicles & Materials
  • Safely operate company vehicles, trailers, tools, and landscape equipment.
  • Perform daily inspections of assigned vehicles and equipment.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are properly loaded, secured, maintained, and returned.
  • Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment promptly.
  • Coordinate and verify materials needed for assigned projects.
  • Help prevent unnecessary material waste and equipment damage.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of company trucks, trailers, and equipment.
Safety
  • Follow and enforce all company safety policies and procedures.
