Through the Gem State Public Health program, members will conduct needs assessments regarding collaborations and partnerships, and recruit potential partnerships as well as coordinate meetings, design training materials, and provide other support to public health agencies. Members will be trained in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Sources of Strength (SOS), and safeTALK. Members will coordinate ASIST, SOS and safeTALK trainings for community members to increase the number of suicide prevention interventionists throughout Idaho.
The program will offer members academic advising and the opportunity to explore degree options that focus on public health.
The Aid for Friends Client Management Support position will expand and enhance the capacity of existing public health programs and services by supporting client case management, and assisting with one-on-one supportive services for clients residing at/in the shelter. Position duties include: provide assistance with data collection of client homeless history during intake; provide the connection of mental health and other wellness resources needed by clients;
help complete needs assessments; assist with other support duties needed for clients to accomplish successful exits from the shelter.
Preferred qualifications:
background in social work, and/or currently enrolled as a social work, sociology or psychology student.
