Position Overview

This is a skilled position involving the safe and efficient operation of transfer trucks and/or dump trucks (with and without pups (trailers) and tarping systems). Drivers will deliver all types of aggregates, including asphalt, and other materials to residential and commercial locations. The role requires customer‑centric service, a strong understanding of CRH safety policies, and the ability to keep employees, customers, and the traveling public safe at all times.

While customer delivery is a priority, the driver will also support internal needs such as asphalt paving.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties And Functions)
  • Demonstrate thorough operational knowledge and skills of end dumps and/or belly dumps (with and without pups) and related equipment.
  • Operate equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate time and material records.
  • Follow verbal and written instruction.
  • Understand different types and sizes of aggregates.
  • Methodically maneuver and back with pup trailer.
  • Communicate effectively on the radio system.
  • Connect and disconnect pup trailer.
Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, License, Registrations

  • Possess a valid state commercial driver’s license (CDL) Class A with double/triple and air brake endorsements.
  • Possess a valid Medical Card as per DOT standard.

Work Requirements

  • One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Incident‑free driving record preferred.
  • May be subject to drug, alcohol, and physical agility testing.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Ability to communicate using two‑way radio.
  • Basic math.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.

Physical Requirements

The employee is frequently required to sit, climb, and use hands to signal and handle equipment. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required are close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
