Semi-Truck Driver - Idaho Falls, Idaho

Basic American Foods is looking for a reliable, team-focused, motivated Semi‑Truck Driver to support our Central Distribution Center in Idaho Falls. The current opening is primarily stationed in Blackfoot but may include drives to the Shelley, Idaho Falls, and Rexburg locations as well.

Job Summary

Operate all BAF trucks from point A to point B as directed, ensuring safe and legal compliance as a licensed CDL Class A driver and haul products and materials as needed.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities

Legally and safely operate BAF vehicles
. Be drug and alcohol‑free, follow applicable regulations, and submit to random testing as required.

Clean all trailers taken to the plant for loading and document loading with a container and loading checklist.

Verify bills of lading for all loads traveling from the plant or warehouse. Fill out the yearly motor vehicle driver certification of violations form.

Maintain driver vehicle – grease 5th wheel, adjust brakes, check oil and fluids, tires, etc. Complete a daily vehicle inspection report.

Follow the SAFE philosophy – communicate with employees observed to be working unsafely to stop unsafe behavior and explain safe practices. Participate in Safe Observations.

Adhere to safety and GMP guidelines – protect yourself, others, and customers. Report any food safety, quality, or plant security issues immediately to management.

Qualifications

Valid CDL license meeting all 49 CFR Part 391 requirements (or completion of all training and certification steps if hired by bid).
Current medical examiner certificate.
Annual driving record review passed.
Be reasonably insurable by BAF.
Maintain up‑to‑date CDL, driving record, insurance risk, and remain drug and alcohol‑free.

Education and Experience

12th grade equivalency or current truck driver bid holder, or at least 2 provable years in over‑the‑road. Strong math skills and ability to compute basic equations. Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English. Apply common sense to daily challenges while following BAF policies, safety practices, and procedures.

Physical Demands

Regularly sit, stand, walk, turn head and neck, use hands and arms to handle tools and controls, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Talk and hear in various environments. Able to lift up to 50 pounds. Vision acceptable for CDL licensing. Reasonable accommodations possible.

Supervisory Accountabilities

Reports to Warehouse Supervisor. May receive direction from inventory and shipping clerks, pull pack operators, BAF truck drivers, other team members, and Plant or Shift Superintendents.

Work Environment

Often near moving mechanical parts, in a warehouse, manufacturing plant, truck, or outside in all weather. Temperature extremes may require coat or light jacket. Possible exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxins, or chemicals. Work often in tight or confined spaces. Noise levels vary; hearing protection may be needed.
