* Job Description:
** The Idaho Falls Airport is hiring an Airport Maintenance and Operations Supervisor. This is professional and supervisory work in the field of airport maintenance and operations. An employee in this position is responsible for training, assigning, supervising, and evaluating the work of skilled and unskilled subordinate employees. General direction is received from the Airport Operations Manager, but the employee has considerable latitude in establishing work priorities, schedules, and related assignments.
The employee will exercise independent judgement in carrying out assignments. Performs a variety of first-line supervisory and general and skilled duties related to planning, organizing and scheduling ongoing maintenance, repair and upkeep of airport runways and associated pavements, and airport property grounds, vehicles and buildings. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Works under the general supervision of the Airport Operations Manager. SUPERVISION EXERCISEDProvides general to close supervision of Airfield Maintenance and Operations Specialist(s) and seasonal employees.

* Essential Functions:
** Performs various supervisory duties as needed to oversee the day-to-day maintenance operations of the airport; schedules staff work times and shifts; prepares work orders and project priorities; monitors work in progress to ensure quality and timeliness of completion. Directs crews engaged in Air Operations Area (AOA) repair and maintenance such as pavement surfaces, painting markings, and snow removal. Performs the job of Snow Boss ensuring safe and timely snow and ice control procedures are implemented in accordance with the Airport’s Snow and Ice Control plan.
Monitors winter weather forecasts and coordinates with Operations Manager and other Operations Supervisor(s) to meet staffing needs. Directs crews in the care and grooming of airport lawns, plants, flowers and shrubs to maintain attractive surroundings. Evaluates employee performance and makes recommendations affecting advancement, retention, discipline and termination. Participates in the selection of Airfield Maintenance and Operations Specialists. Provides or coordinates staff training and works with employees to identify and resolve problems.
Works with the Airport Operations Manager to implement changes or improvements concerning the daily operations of the airfield. In consultation with the Airport Operations Manager, reviews and makes recommendations to the Airport Certification Manual. Recommends replacement of airport vehicles and equipment and assists in the selection of such equipment. Coordinates with off-airport agencies, such as the Fire Department, Police, and Emergency Medical Services personnel.
Responds to aircraft and airport emergencies. May be required to act as incident commander until relieved, and in the absence of higher airport authority, could be required to oversee airfield operations, and must be prepared to make decisions affecting airfield operations. Operates a variety of light, medium, and heavy equipment such as tractors, dump trucks, snowplows, sanders, motor graders, dual engine rotary snow blower and pick-up trucks.
