The Yard Butler is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Class A CDL Driver / Heavy Equipment Transport Operator to join our team. This position is responsible for safely transporting equipment, materials, and supplies to and from job sites while supporting our construction, excavation, landscaping, and other field operations.
The primary focus of this position will be mobilizing heavy equipment between job sites, hauling rock, gravel, dirt, and other materials, and safely loading, securing, transporting, and unloading equipment.
This position may also operate heavy equipment and assist field crews when needed. The ideal candidate is an experienced Class A CDL driver who is comfortable hauling equipment and materials, understands proper load securement, takes care of company trucks and equipment, and is willing to jump in and help wherever needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES CDL Driving & Transportation- Safely operate trucks and trailers requiring a Class A CDL.
- Transport heavy equipment, machinery, attachments, materials, and supplies to and from job sites.
- Mobilize excavators, skid steers, loaders, compactors, and other construction and landscaping equipment between job sites.
- Haul rock, gravel, dirt, aggregate, landscape materials, and other construction materials as needed.
- Safely load, unload, secure, and transport equipment and materials.
- Properly use chains, binders, straps, and other load-securement equipment.
- Ensure loads are properly distributed and secured before transportation.
- Operate dump trucks, equipment trailers, and other company vehicles as assigned.
- Follow safe transportation routes based on vehicle size, weight, load, road conditions, and job-site accessibility.
- Perform required pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Maintain required driver logs, inspection reports, and transportation documentation.
- Follow all applicable DOT regulations and company safety policies.
- Operate heavy equipment when qualified and assigned, including skid steers, loaders, excavators, and other construction equipment.
- Load and unload equipment and materials safely.
- Stage equipment and materials at job sites as directed.
- Assist with excavation, construction, landscaping, and other field operations when transportation duties are completed.
- Safely maneuver trucks, trailers, and equipment in active job sites and confined areas.
- Work closely with project managers, supervisors, operators, and field crews to coordinate equipment and material needs.
- Help keep projects moving by ensuring equipment and materials arrive at the appropriate job sites when needed.
- Complete daily inspections of assigned trucks, trailers, and equipment.
- Inspect tires, brakes, lights, fluids, tie‑downs, chains, binders, and other safety equipment.
- Immediately report maintenance concerns, mechanical issues, accidents, equipment damage, or safety concerns.
- Maintain company trucks, trailers, and equipment in a clean and professional condition.
- Assist with basic preventative maintenance and equipment care as needed.
- Take ownership of assigned vehicles and equipment and ensure they are properly cared for.
- Follow all company safety procedures and applicable DOT requirements.
- Maintain a safe driving record.
- Operate vehicles and equipment responsibly to prevent accidents, injuries, and property damage.
