Project Accountant – Overview
The Project Accountant performs a variety of tasks related to the maintenance and processing of project cost and payment records, providing overall support to operations staff with financial details.
Responsibilities- Independently updates existing account reconciliation and analysis templates (over/under billing, closeout reports, negative cash, prepaids, accruals)
- Efficiently produces work deliverables in CMiC
- Applies general knowledge of GAAP to correctly record accruals, prepaids, and over/under billing adjustments
- Reviews, validates, and analyzes CMiC reporting (PSRs/Invoices to be posted, expense reimbursements, GL account balances)
- Creates accurate schedules and submits them to management
- Applies general knowledge of Excel to update recurring or ad hoc Excel schedules
- Uses existing procedures to solve routine or standard problems
- Receives instruction, guidance and direction from others
- Accountable for work within own role, yet work completed impacts team and/or projects
- Impacts own team and adjacent teams
- Uses discretion to make improvements to existing processes and solutions to achieve results or improve efficiency
- Assists in basic business development tasks
- Acts as a resource for team members with less experience
- May lead small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements
- Recognizes and solves typical problems that can occur in own work/department with minimal oversight
- Evaluates and selects solutions from established options and employs creativity to develop new options for consideration
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field, or equivalent years of relevant experience
- Two (2) to four (4) years of accounting experience
- Public accounting experience preferred
- Construction industry experience strongly preferred
- Decision-making, research, and analytical problem‑solving skills
- Time management skills with the ability to organize, assess, and prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands
- Ability to work independently
- CMiC software experience a plus
- Quick learner, able to understand new software and systems
The base salary range for this position is $75,000 – $95,000.
