Responsibilities
  • Prepare and process biweekly in-house payroll.
  • Process off-schedule payments, including replacement checks, termination pays, severance payments, bonus payments, and other miscellaneous payments.
  • Process garnishments, levies, and various payroll deductions; generate ad-hoc reports.
  • Calculate final wage payments, including paid time off, vacation, and sick earnings payoff to ensure terminated employees are paid properly.
  • Ensure all payroll transactions comply with federal/state laws, company policies, and DART policy.
  • Ensure all documentation is properly authorized and supported per company policies, procedures, regulatory practices, and legal requirements.
  • Develop and maintain desktop procedures and other documents necessary for daily operations.
  • Maintain staff records, including archiving and filing; assist in open records requests.
  • Maintain and reconcile time and attendance records; perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in processing and preparing payroll, with working knowledge of payroll rules, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Background investigation and credit check passed.
  • Strong computer skills; solid knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Windows, Word, Excel, Access).
  • Experience with Lawson Payroll, Crystal Report Writer, and Kronos Time and Attendance.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to work collaboratively with other departments.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with all levels.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize deadlines across multiple assignments.
  • Analytical ability to find solutions to problems.
  • Ability to meet expectations and requirements of internal and external customers.
  • Ability to orchestrate multiple activities simultaneously; use resources effectively and efficiently.
Working Conditions

Works in an environment with minimal exposure to dust, noise, or temperature variations. May be moderately exposed to unpleasant working conditions, including dust, noise, temperature, weather, petroleum products, and chemicals while visiting DART's operating facilities, subject to safety policies and wearing protective clothing and devices as provided.
