Youth Camp Lead Counselor

Galena Lodge is a small day-lodge nestled in the Rocky Mountains 23 miles north of Sun Valley Resort and Ketchum, Idaho. We are located at an altitude of 7300 feet at the base of the Boulder and Smokey Mountains. Our winter season runs from mid November until early April (or as snow levels permit) and our Summer Season runs from mid June until mid September.

Youth Adventure Camp Lead Counselor: Galena Lodge is looking for a camp director who is dynamic, responsible, enjoys being outdoors, and has experience working with youth ages 6-12 in a camp environment. Our adventure camp runs from Mid June to Mid August with additional hours for training and end of season cleanup. The camp director must have Wilderness First Responder and CPR certifications and Galena Lodge can train for lifeguarding.

The director must be able to manage 2-3 other employees as well as up to 26 kids. The camp director will spend 8 hours a day, Monday thru Friday, surrounded by energetic and eager 8-12 year olds with one overnight on Thursday. Camp activities include whitewater rafting (with a guide), horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, swimming, lake kayaking, and orienteering.

The candidate should have experience in all of these activities and demonstrate a background of safety and responsibility.

Youth Adventure Camp Staff (3 people): Galena Lodge is looking for adventurous and fun candidates who enjoy working outdoors to become Youth Adventure Camp Counselors. Camp counselors must have Wilderness First Aid and CPR certifications and Galena Lodge can train for lifeguarding. They will lead activities such as whitewater rafting, horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, swimming, lake kayaking, and orienteering, spending 8 hours a day, Monday thru Friday, with one overnight on Thursday.

Candidates should demonstrate experience with youth and a strong safety background.

Restaurant Staff (2-3 people): This casual, counter service lunch restaurant requires staff to open for morning coffee and pastries, handle fast-paced lunch service, and assist in evening and fine dining services. Roles include serving, bartending, taking reservations for dinner and yurt stays, and delivering attentive customer service. Previous serving experience is preferred but training will be provided for the right enthusiastic candidate.

Kitchen Staff – Line cooks (1-2 persons): Line and Banquet style service for lunch and special event dinners. Preferred applicants will have 1 year or more experience cooking from scratch, making stocks, soups, sauces, and working on a hot line and grill. Speed, multitasking, and knowledge of food handling procedures are essential.

Kitchen Staff – Baker/Prep cook: Responsibilities include mixing and baking cookies, muffins, breads, and other pastries daily, assisting in kitchen prep, and supporting line cooks. Experience in baking is…
