Location: Mackay

FLSmidth is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Service Centre Manager to lead the operational and financial performance of our Service Centre operations on the East Coast of Australia. Based in Mackay or Newcastle, this role is responsible for delivering safe, efficient and customer-focused service operations while driving sustainable business growth across workshop, field service and aftermarket activities. Working closely with customers and internal stakeholders, you will ensure operational excellence, develop high-performing teams and expand our service presence throughout the region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all Service Centre operations, including workshop activities, field service, inventory management and logistics.
  • Drive financial performance by achieving revenue, profitability and cost management targets.
  • Develop, coach and lead a high-performing team, fostering a strong culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships to maximise customer satisfaction, retention and aftermarket growth.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities to expand service offerings and market share across the East Coast.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards and all health, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Monitor operational KPIs, analyse performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with Sales, Engineering, Supply Chain and other internal teams to deliver exceptional customer outcomes.
  • Optimise resource utilisation, including workforce planning, equipment and facilities management.

    Prepare and manage annual operating budgets, forecasts and business plans.
About You

You are a hands‑on leader with strong commercial and operational experience within the mining, heavy industrial or capital equipment sectors. You have a proven ability to lead service operations, develop high-performing teams and build long‑term customer partnerships while delivering strong financial results.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Proven leadership experience managing service operations within mining, heavy machinery, industrial equipment or a related industry.
  • Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated success in driving revenue growth, profitability and operational performance.
  • Sound understanding of workshop management, field service operations, inventory control and logistics.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching and people management skills.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and negotiation abilities.
  • Experience using ERP systems and business management software (SAP experience advantageous).
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace health, safety and environmental compliance.
  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Business, Operations Management or a related discipline preferred.
  • Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel throughout the East Coast of Australia.
