• Meet all state and local code compliance and reporting requirements.
• Apply knowledge of building codes, policies, and procedures to day‑to‑day functions of the building department.
• Serve as primary liaison with clients, ensuring the highest level of customer service.
• Attend department and community meetings as required.
• Perform plan reviews for commercial and residential projects in all trades.
• Provide inspection support as needed.
• Supervise building department staff.

• Demonstrate extensive knowledge of local building code regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Client and team management experience in a building department setting.
• Solid computer skills and experience using MS Office programs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Exercise initiative and independent judgment.
• Self‑directed and self‑motivated.

• ICC Building Official Certification required.
• ICC Residential and Commercial Building Inspector Certifications required.
• ICC Building Plans Examiner Certification preferred.
• ICC Building Code Specialist Certification preferred.
• ICC Commercial Mechanical Inspector Certification preferred.
• Inspection and plan review experience for commercial and residential structures required.
• Experience supervising building department staff required.

• Frequent walking, standing, climbing, bending, stooping, crawling, or kneeling for inspections.
• Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, or unfinished stairways to access roofs, attics, crawl spaces, and other elevated areas.
• Occasional lifting, carrying, or moving objects up to 25–50 pounds.

• Visual acuity sufficient to read construction plans and observe details.
• Ability to detect safety hazards and defects visually and auditorily.
• Hearing sufficient to communicate in noisy environments.

• Use of hands and fingers for tools, inspection equipment, computers, and tablets.

• Work performed in both office and field settings.
• Exposure to outdoor weather conditions and construction site environments.
• Frequent driving between inspection sites and company locations.
