Sun Valley Community School seeks a dynamic Middle School Science Teacher who can help bring out the budding scientist in every student. Duties include teaching 7th and 8th grade science classes, a thematic elective course, as well as serving as a student advisor, and participating in the school’s extensive Outdoor Program. This is a full-time teaching position with benefits and an August 10 start date.
For the right candidate, the position may include Residential Life responsibilities and housing. SVCS also has access to rental housing units throughout the Wood River Valley. Depending on availability, family size, and other factors, SVCS may be able to assist new employees who are relocating from out of state with their housing transition. Candidates should appreciate the art and craft of teaching, and approach education with enthusiasm, curiosity, and professionalism. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of teaching experience preferred. CompensationRange Community School Faculty Broadband Salary Scale
The Broadband Salary Scale is designed to address full-time, lead faculty members. The broadband salary scale does not apply to assistant teachers, part-time faculty members, instructional support, administrative, or staff positions.
Notes:- Position within each band may be influenced by additional duties, advanced degrees, certain professional development activities, approved performance measures and other significant contributions to the school.
- Each Master’s degree (or similar) is equivalent to three years of experience in the broadband scale, starting with new hires after September 1, 2024.
- A doctoral degree is equivalent to three years of experience in the broadband scale.
- Band ranges are adjusted annually based on the salary pool increase each year.
- Full-time, lead teachers are defined as being a teacher, while also leading an advisory or homeroom, working within the outdoor program, and working within the co-curricular or after-school programs of the school. All other duties as determined by the Head of School and administration are considered part of the job of an independent school faculty member.
Band A – 1-5 years -- Range $55,000 - $59,500
Band B – 6-10 years – Range $59,000 - $63,500
Band C – 11-15 years – Range $63,000 - $67,500
Band D – 16-20 years – Range $67,000 - $72,500
Band E – 21+ years – Range $72,000 and up
