Pastoral Intern — Covenant Reformed Bible Church (Bonners Ferry, )
Part-time | 20hrs/week | Preaching & Teaching | 1-year
Position OverviewCovenant Reformed Bible Church (Bonners Ferry, ) invites a spiritually mature, theologically grounded pastoral intern to train under our lead pastor and serve our Reformed congregation. This part-time (20hrs/week) internship provides supervised, practical ministry experience emphasizing expository preaching, catechism, pastoral care, and faithful Reformed doctrine while living and working alongside our growing congregation in North Idaho.
Key Responsibilities- Preaching & Teaching:
Prepare and deliver expository sermons on a rotating basis consistent with our Reformed convictions; lead Bible studies/small-group teaching emphasizing covenant theology and the gospel of sovereign grace. - Pastoral Care:
Assist with member visitation, hospital and shut-in visits, grief and crisis support under pastoral supervision, and regular pastoral prayer and follow-up. - Worship & Ministry Support:
Participate in worship planning and service leadership; support congregational ministries (youth, discipleship, evangelism, and local outreach) and encourage reverent, Christ-centered worship consistent with our tradition. - Mentorship & Development:
Meet regularly for one-on-one mentoring with the lead pastor, attend staff/consistory meetings as appropriate, and pursue directed theological study and confessional formation. - Administrative Duties:
Assist with sermon research, correspondence, bulletin and resource preparation, and other ministry-related administrative tasks.
- This is a vocational internship position intended for those pursuing pastoral ministry. It is an unpaid internship; applicants should have the means to support themselves financially during the term. A small stipend will be provided to assist with expenses, and reasonable ministry-related reimbursements may be available.
- Abilityto lead congregational singing and/or play a worship instrument (piano, guitar, or similar) is highly desired but not required. Applicants with musical skills who can contribute to congregational worship are especially encouraged to apply.
- Currently enrolled in or a graduate of a Reformed seminary or Bible college.
- Commitment to Covenant Reformed Bible Church’s Reformed convictions and historic Reformed confessions (willingness to affirm and promote the congregation’s confessional standards).
- Evidenced calling to pastoral ministry, personal holiness, and active participation in local church life.
- Strong expository preaching ability and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Priorpreaching, catechetical, or teaching experience in a Reformed church setting.
- Experience in youth ministry, discipleship, orsmall-groupleadership.
- Familiarity with biblical languages (Greek/Hebrew) and Reformed theologicaldistinctives.
