Job Summary
Filer Middle School is seeking a dedicated and passionate educator to join our team as a full-time Social Studies Teacher. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore historical events, cultural diversity, and civic responsibility while fostering critical thinking and analytical skills. This position requires a commitment to creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment that accommodates diverse learning styles and promotes a love for social studies.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and curriculum guidelines.
- Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and resources to meet the needs of all learners.
- Assess and evaluate student progress through formal and informal assessments, providing timely feedback.
- Create a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
- Foster critical thinking and discussion among students regarding historical events and current issues.
- Integrate technology into the classroom to enhance learning experiences.
- Collaborate with colleagues, administration, and parents to support student success and address any concerns.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and social studies content.
- Uphold school policies and procedures while promoting a culture of respect and responsibility among students.
- Supervise students during lunch, recess, and other school activities as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Studies, History, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification in Social Studies for middle school education.
- Strong knowledge of social studies curriculum and educational standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students and foster a supportive learning environment.
- Experience working with middle school students preferred.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs.
- Proficiency in using educational technology and digital resources to enhance instruction.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and lifelong learning.
