Job Title: Assistant Band Director

Job SummaryThe Assistant Band Director supports the Head Band Director in overseeing the school's band program. Responsibilities include assisting with rehearsals, directing ensembles, coordinating performances, and fostering students' musical growth. The role requires collaboration with faculty, students, and parents to ensure a well-rounded and high-quality music education experience.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in directing and supervising all aspects of the band program, including marching band, concert band, pep band, and other ensembles.
- Lead rehearsals, sectionals, and individual instruction to enhance student musicianship.
- Support band students in developing technical skills, music literacy, and performance abilities.
- Assist in organizing and executing performances, competitions, and community events.
- Coordinate with the Head Band Director on curriculum development and instructional planning.
- Help with administrative tasks such as scheduling, budgeting, and inventory management of instruments and equipment.
- Collaborate with other music staff and educators to integrate music education into the school curriculum.
- Provide mentorship, encouragement, and support to students at all skill levels.
- Maintain positive communication with parents, school administration, and the community regarding program events and student progress.
- Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment that fosters respect, discipline, and teamwork.
- Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field (Master's preferred).
- Valid Ohio teaching certification in Music.
- Experience in band instruction, conducting, and music pedagogy.
- Strong instrumental proficiency and ability to teach various instruments.
- Knowledge of marching band techniques, drill design, and ensemble direction.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and community members.
- Experience in a leadership role within a school band program.
- Proficiency in music technology and software for arranging, composing, or recording.
- Knowledgeofmusic competition guidelines.
- Requires evening and weekend commitments for rehearsals, performances, and competitions.
- Ability to lift and transport musical instruments and equipment as needed.
- Travel may be required for events, competitions, and professional development.
