Job Description

To provide students with instruction in agricultural education that prepares them for careers, leadership, and lifelong learning while promoting agricultural literacy and community engagement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Instruction & Curriculum
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with Idaho standards in agricultural education.
  • Teach courses such as agricultural science, mechanics, animal science, plant science, and agribusiness.
  • Incorporate hands‑on, project‑based, and experiential learning opportunities.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs.
FFA Leadership
  • Serve as advisor for the local FFA chapter.
  • Prepare students for competitions, leadership events, and conferences.
  • Promote student participation in FFA activities at the local, district, and state levels.
  • Manage FFA records, reports, and program compliance.
Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAE)
  • Guide students in developing and maintaining SAE projects.
  • Conduct site visits and provide feedback on student progress.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of SAE programs.
Program Management
  • Maintain agricultural facilities such as shop, greenhouse, or land lab (if applicable).
  • Ensure safety procedures are followed at all times.
  • Manage inventory, equipment, and program budget.
Community & School Engagement
  • Build partnerships with local agricultural businesses and community members.
  • Promote the agriculture program within the school and community.
  • Participate in school events, committees, and professional development.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of agricultural practices and industry trends.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to teach both academic and technical skills.
  • Effective communication and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions
  • Classroom and laboratory/shop environment.
  • Occasional outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
  • Extended hours for FFA events, travel, and student supervision.
