- Idaho teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement(s)
- Strong background in teaching methods, developmentally appropriate classroom activities, and effective classroom management
- Demonstrated knowledge of subject matter and effective teaching methods
- Strong background in curriculum and in the Idaho Core Standards
- Strong background in integration of technology with instruction
- Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
- Works well with students, staff, and the public
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to work under deadlines
- Maintain confidentiality of staff and students
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY TO: Building Principal
JOB SUMMARY: To provide students with a daily and ongoing instructional program that will provide for them the best possible academic knowledge and skills, promoting academic, social, and citizenship development through leadership and classroom supervision.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Instruction- Prepare for assigned classes
- Design lessons with an appropriate level of difficulty that provide content in a logical and sequential manner
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media, adapted to classroom limitations and student needs
- Meet and instruct assigned classes in the designated locations and times
- Identify pupil needs and provide instruction appropriate to those needs
- Analyze and interpret student data to develop and modify instructional activities
- Follow modifications and accommodations specified in Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
- Implement the Idaho Core Standards and the district’s philosophy, instructional goals and objectives, in lesson plans, classroom instruction, unit planning, and assessments
- Devise written and oral assignments and tests that require analytical and critical thinking, evaluate student progress regularly
- Prepare students academically for district, state, and federal testing
- Demonstrate command of the subject matter
- Budget class time effectively
- Encourage students to strive to meet their highest potential
- Establish and communicate classroom rules and encourage students to set and maintain standards of behavior
- Provide availability to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when reasonably requested
- Maintain open communication with students and parents regarding academic and behavioral progress
- Take reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings
- Attend IEP meetings and collaborate with special education teachers as needed
- Inform immediate supervisor of activities and any issues that may arise
- Cooperate with staff in planning instructional goals, curriculum, objectives, and methods
- Provide needed information in a timely manner
- Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules
- Maintain accurate records as required by federal and state law, administrative rules, and Board policy
- Input data promptly
- Engage in continuing professional growth by attending meetings, holding memberships in professional organizations, enrolling in advanced courses, and reading professional journals
- Adhere to the Code of Ethics of the Idaho Teaching Profession
- Seek assistance if emergencies arise
- Represent the school district positively
- Follow school district policy and chain of command
- Perform other duties as assigned
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated annually by the building principal in conformance with district policy and IDAPA .
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: By contract as determined by the Board of Trustees in accordance with federal and state law, administrative rules, and Board policy.
NOTE: All certificated and non-certificated employees and other individuals are required to undergo a criminal history check and submit to fingerprinting. Any applicant convicted of any felony listed in Section 33-1208, Idaho Code may not be hired, and any applicant convicted of any felony offense listed in Section 33-1208(2), Idaho Code shall not be hired.
